Life is good today. I have been drinking a new coffee drink I thought up. Its a doppio (double) espresso with a shot of peppermint. I like it quite a bit. The taste alone opens your eyes.

another motorcycle update

Sheba and I have been to 7 states with about 4500 miles on the odometer. Oklahoma, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, and Wyoming. This is me and Steve, the previous owner of Sheba, just before I left Oklahoma. I have not driven anything with 4 wheels since then (5/26/06) with the exception of bringing my car home from the airport. Obviously I won't be able to keep that up forever but its an interesting statistic. Last Friday at midnight I couldn't sleep so I went up in the mountains and drove some twisty roads... We did about 60 miles that beautiful night.

motorcycle update

Its been a while since I updated so here we go. I've been riding my motorcycle everywhere. I have not driven my car since I got the motorcycle except to bring it back from the airport! It is more fun than I should be allowed to have. When I'm on an open stretch and I lay on the throttle, my body slides backward on the seat from the acceleration and I have to hang on with my hands stretched out in front of me. Its the closest thing to flying and I feel like superman only if I run into something I die. Its awesome. I'm planninig on riding the bike to Idaho in July.

700 miles of adventure

Well, I'm back! I left OKC at about 7:30pm CST and headed west. After a brief stint on the legendary route 66, I left the busy roads and headed for the panhandle. As I rode west into a beautiful Oklahoma sunset, lightning flashed to the northwest. The thunder of my motorcycle drowned out all else as I passed through sleepy little farm town after sleeply little farm town. The wind from the south buffetted me, making me I would stop in some of them to rest my body and have a snack. Finally at 4am I really needed to sleep. I stopped in Boise City, OK. Apparently its pronounced "BWAZ" instead of "BOY-SEE" like the city in Idaho. I slept there until 10:30 and proceeed on. Up through more more little towns... Lamar, CO. I finally hit I-70 and was headed west when I saw a sign "CO-86 Scenic route to Denver." In 5 seconds I had decided to take it. it was about 80-90 miles through some really nice country out toward Castle Rock. Before I got to Kiowa, I saw a funnel cloud forming. The clounds were up about 8000 feet and the funnel was extending down about 1/3 of the way to the ground. It didn't touch down, but it was exciting. I didn't really do much in the way of "twisties" but I hear they are a lot of fun. Stop and go traffic in Denver was interesting, specially since I can't flat foot the pavement on the KLR. Anyway, I finally made it home. It was a great ride :)

I bought a motorcycle

The big news is that I bought a motorcycle! Its a '93 Kawasaki KLR650 with about 7000 miles on it. Its in Oklahoma. I'm going to fly down there and drive it back to Colorado memorial day weekend. This will be a great adventure and I'm looking forward to it already.

I'm taking a motorcycle class. We did a classroom session last night where we went over basic operation, controls, equipment, etc. Tomorrow and sunday we get to drive them aorund.

I've been saying I need more adventure in my life, so next month I'm taking a motorcycle riding course. It is Thursday May 11th 6pm-9pm, and the following saturday and sunday from 8am-5pm.

I know its been a while since I updated. Things have been a strange combination of boring and hectic. Whats been challenging is I have been learning the Argentine Tango. It is a very subtle dance where the leading is very slight. The idea which I'm sure you guys can relate to is that the man does as little as is necessary and sufficient to convey his wishes to the woman. These subtleties of positioning are often lost on me. The male teacher, I think his name is James, can lead the female teacher to do several completely different moves without it being apparent that he did anything different. Its subtle. Very subtle.

I did lunges in my last workout on tuesday. Those arent too hard to do, but wow my legs were stiff on wednesday! They are still stiff today. Not hurting, just not doing what I'm asking them to. I did this other exercise where you grab a weighted cable at about shoulder height and pull it forward and across down toward your opposite side. That felt really good to do, like I was getting a back rub.
